For the first time ever PropTarts worked a shoot in our hometown, Burlington. Video's are on our website and facebook. We invaded the new Sheetz on Rt 62 and spent two nights shooting two amusing spots.
Key West Theme Event: Bone Marrow Foundation of Hendrick Motorsports, Inc.
We still have tropical plants left over from the Key West theme event in May. Pinnacle Palms anyone - going cheap! We built four Key West style beach bungalow facades for the event, painted to match the linens. Lobster pots, fishing nets and rocking chairs completed the scene, filled with tropical plants. Pictures to follow soon.
Red Dirt Rising Re-Shoot: Picture the scene: its Sunday, the last day of a week of re-shoots on the indie feature Red Dirt Risingin sub-tropical Mid-May. Its been raining all day. Our cast of extras are soaking wet in their authentic WW2 wool uniforms. We move to the authentic WW2 trench where they huddle over their prop rifles eating authentic MREs up to their elbows in North Carolina red clay! Short of moving the whole production to Normandy, there was just no getting around it!

Sophia supervised Crystal in the on-set art for this new commercial for the NC lottery. Sarah built a set piece. Pictures will be revealed when the commercial airs.

PropTarts donated set dressing items to this shoot with DP Alton Chewning. The project features interactive web modules about HIV.

Sophia art directed this piece directed by Mark Brumback of Shoreline Productions. We have previously worked with them on a piece about restless legs. Commercial work can also be informative!
We can't reveal many details about this shoot at Contrast Creative until the spots start to air in October. We can say its lots of fun to work with muppet style puppets, although dressing a set that's four feet in the air can be a challenge!

Due to environmental issues beyond our control, PropTarts is moving it's 5,000 square foot shop/storage/office facility in Burlington, NC. Not very far...from the 1950s addition in the main building at Glencoe Mill to the 1880s part. If you haven't seen or heard of Glencoe Mill Village, its worth a visit. We are situated on the Haw River, with 42 original mill houses and historically appropriate in-fills, have two canoe put-ins, and are part of the Mountains-to-the-Sea trail. Sarah lives in the village, in an 1880s mill house she renovated in 2001. She has an enviable 2 minute commute to work! Now to the un-enviable task of moving 5,000 s.f. of stuff in hot-as-hell June & July!
ADAM ROSS
ADAM ROSS: In the past two years PropTarts has worked on several 3D short film shoots with Adam Ross Productions. As you may have heard, Adam Ross died of a heart attack on Memorial Day, 2009. His co-producer and partner, Matt Moore (husband of PropTart Sophia Martinez Moore) is working hard to see that the short films that comprise the 3D feature Vault Of Darkness, and several other feature projects are completed. Ross will be missed by the many friends and filmmakers in the Triad whose dreams he shared and suppported.
